Day -1 (September 28th) Getting ready and much packing

It has been a hectic few days, as last weekend I was in London for the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, a belated birthday dinner with the family and then Emma’s birthday party. I arrived back in Beijing on Tuesday morning only to pack and move homes today.

Three very wise youngsters

Me and Mum

I am somewhat excited by this ride ( no that is an understatement I am very excited)  it is a very technical ride into the heart of the Mustang Valley. We will go from the tropical jungle into a barren wilderness in the mountains in the Annapurna region. It will test our limits, roads will be basic if there are any at all. The area has only been open since 1992, therefore it is one of the most preserved regions in the world.

We will be riding between 6-8 hours a day, some days when we are in the low lands we will be able to cover 200+km a day, but in the Mustang Valley, we will be limited to less than half of that due to the conditions. These conditions will also be taxing on the body, so I expect many of us to drop the bikes or have an accident due to fatigue.
